今日は曲紹介、昨日追加したレコードの中から、Peter Tosh / Can't Blame The Youthです。この曲は1980年にリリースされました。子供たちを馬鹿にするのではなく、学校でしっかり勉強させる、でもそれだけじゃなくて本当のことを知ることが大切だと歌っています。歌詞の中にはジャマイカの歴史に大きな影響を与えた人々の名前も出てきますが、そんな偉大な人だってその陰では悪いことをしてたんだ、とラスタらしい歌詞運びになっています。
なお、Youthという単語は英語では【若者、青年】と訳しますが、ジャマイカでは子供という意味の方が強いので子供と訳しています。
